Paul Krauss and associates offer individual, family, couples, and group therapy.
First, we conduct a full assessment and find out what concerns you have and where you would like to be by the end of treatment. Then we collaboratively make a plan for to achieve your goals and work toward better overall health and wellness.
We offer both Brief Therapy (6-12 sessions) and Longer-Term Therapy (12+ sessions). Based on the collaborative plan we develop, you may decide how often you would like to attend counseling.
A Counseling session may include several different approaches, for example: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic/ Client-Centered, Family-Systems Therapy, The Gottman Method for Couples therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Solution-Focused therapy, Psycho-Educational, Career Counseling, and ACRA (Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach) or CRA (Community Reinforcement Approach and many more—depending on the approach of the clinician and your preferences.
Starting at the first assessment, we will work together on a plan to help you move from where you are now to where you want to be. Next comes the counseling sessions where we do the work and we use a variety of skills and techniques tailored to your unique person and situation to help you get there.
Depending on your unique situation or concern, you and I may decide that family counseling is appropriate. We will discuss this during the intake or a counseling session and decide when to incorporate other family members in counseling.

Definitions of the types Counseling by the American Counseling Association:
Individual counseling is a personal opportunity to receive support and experience growth during challenging times in life. Individual counseling can help one deal with many personal topics in life such as anger, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, marriage and relationship challenges, parenting problems, school difficulties, career changes etc.
Family therapy is often sought due to a life change or stress negatively affecting one or all areas of family closeness, family structure (rules and roles) or communication style. This mode of counseling can take a variety of forms. Sometimes it is best to see an entire family together for several sessions. Common issues addressed in family counseling are concerns around parenting, sibling conflict, loss of family members, new members entering the family, dealing with a major move or a general change affecting the family system.
Group counseling allows one to find out that they are not alone in their type of life challenge. To be involved in a group of peers who are in a similar place not only increases one’s understanding of the struggles around the topic but also the variety in the possible solutions available. Typically, groups have up to eight participants, one or two group leaders, and revolve around a common topic like: anger management, self-esteem, divorce, domestic violence, recovery from abuse and trauma, and substance abuse and recovery.
